Sally, a 3rd Year in BA in Biblical Studies, shares her experience at Bethlehem Bible College’s retreat in the Galilee.

The Student Retreat was a very encouraging experience for me.  Before the retreat there was something that I had been holding inside.  I felt that if I told others, they would judge me.  During the retreat, I was praying about this thing and I felt God say that I should confess with other believers and that they would understand and not judge me.  God was gracious and sent somebody to touch my heart with exactly the words I needed to hear.  I told one of the professors and she didn’t judge me.  Instead she encouraged me.

This experience showed me that God is always with us and that he never forsakes his children.  Even in our weaknesses, God is with us.  His word can speak to us in every place and time in our lives.  God is great!

Before, I felt there was a wall between God and I.  Although I have been studying theology, I would still deny God at times and not let Him speak to every area of my life.  Now, I feel encouraged and have decided to live my life for God every minute of everyday.

Jesus said: “Look at the bird of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them….Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

For anyone that feels that God is far away from him or her, I want to encourage them that God is close.  He never stays away from us.  We decide to stay away from him. I want to encourage all students and our international friends to get close to God, because this world is not enough to feel happy and encourage, but God alone is who we need to trust.
