In Loving Memory of our Dear Colleague Jihan

Two months after losing one of our dearest colleagues, Jihan Qanawati Al Ama, BBC held a memorial to remember her best moments with us.

Jihan went to be with the Lord in October, 2015 after struggling for several years with a fatal illness. For those who did not know her, Jihan was a special part of the BBC family who worked with the college for 8 years. She began her career with BBC as the Registrar in the Academic office, and later she served as the Guesthouse Manager; a position she excelled at. She was well-known to BBC staff and guests for her loving and kind heart, as well as her generosity.

In honor of Jihan, our staff, faculty, volunteers and students as well as Jihan’s extended family and friends, (including her husband and young two-year old son) came together to remember her with love.

Rev. Jack Sara, the president of BBC, welcomed everyone who joined us to celebrate Jihan’s memory. He said that the college will miss Jihan very much, especially because of all the good times we spent with her, but he reminded us that we will grow stronger by remembering that she is with the Lord now.

Our Chaplin, Micheal Arteen, offered a very powerful prayer, asking God for the consolation and comfort of Jihan’s Family. His beautiful prayer was followed by a time of worship led by Dr. Munther Isaac.

Jihan’s father shared a strong, faith-filled message; that though Jihan is not with us, she is in a better place with Him and we will meet her again soon with the Lord.

Pastor Alex and Brenda Awad sent a message from the US talking about their loss, and how they loved Jihan as their own child, and how sweet she was. Dr. Bishara Awad also shared about how blessed the college was to have her as an employee.

Dr. Munther Isaac shared a little about Jihan’s life at the college, and how loving she was.  He remembered how she used to take care of people and how she remembered everyone’s birthdays and names! Mrs. Madliene Sara gave a word in this occasion: “Let us think of our future. Where are we going after death? Jihan moved to be with her Heavenly Father and she left a very good example for us to follow. What about us?”

Two of Jihan’s closest colleagues, Nisreen and Hala, shared some very touching words about their relationship with her and Rev. Sara closed the ceremony with a word of prayer.

Everyone who knew Jihan loved her for her amazing personality and smiling face. We will miss her very much!
