Bethlehem Bible College’s Summer and Fall 2024 Update
As summer draws to a close, we reflect on a season filled with challenges, especially given the war in Gaza. Despite these hardships, we have remained faithful to our mission and goals, making meaningful progress in various areas.
Summer Activities and Community Engagement
This summer, we were pleased to host a dynamic youth camp in Bethlehem titled “Little Tour Guide.” Additionally, we provided several community courses in both English and Hebrew.
For our international friends, we offered Arabic language courses. We introduced a course, “Women in the Bible,” which delves into women’s significant roles in scripture, highlighting their contributions and influence.
Our students demonstrated exceptional commitment during the summer by continuing their service with Syrian refugees in Al Mafraq, Jordan. Their work has been a testament to their dedication and compassion. Additionally, several of our staff members participated in a five-day training with Focus Business School in Jordan. This training is designed to equip individuals with the skills to establish businesses based on Christian values and principles.
Upcoming Fall Programs
As we transition into fall, we are excited to launch a new and impactful initiative through our Community Training Department. The program, entitled “Yarn,” focuses on Psycho-Social and Spiritual Trauma Care for children and women. This comprehensive program aims to train a dedicated team to provide trauma-aware psychological, social, and spiritual support within Palestinian society. The program will be implemented through four workshops spread throughout the year, with the first workshop scheduled to begin in September.
Our Academic Departments are also preparing for an exciting new semester. We are set to welcome new students in our BA in Biblical Studies and MA in Theology in the Public Square programs. This year, we also focus on enriching the educational experience for Christian education school teachers, who will undertake specialized courses designed to deepen their understanding and enhance their teaching practices.
Additional Updates and Initiatives
Our women’s ministry, “A Pot in His Hand,” has been actively engaged throughout the summer, hosting several conferences and activities to empower women in the Bethlehem area.
In August, our Academic Dean, Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac, undertook a significant tour of the United States. During this tour, he courageously spoke about the situation in Gaza and emphasized the crucial role of Christians in advocating against genocide and war.
Looking Ahead
As we prepare to welcome both returning and new students to our campus, we are hopeful for a transformative and enriching academic year. We warmly welcome our students, inviting them to become an integral part of the Bethlehem Bible College family. We are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment where they can grow and flourish both spiritually and intellectually.
We kindly ask for your continued prayers as we strive to be beacons of light in these challenging times. May we always speak the truth and serve as a strong voice for our people and our country. Amen.
