Solidarity with the Palestinian People: A Christian Call for Justice and Peace

By Mr. Bahjat Khader, Coordinator of the Online Department
As Palestinian Christians, we strongly support our people’s pursuit of justice, peace, self-determination, and freedom. This is not just a political position or a religious endeavor; it is a deep moral and Biblical responsibility, based on Christ’s teachings of justice, love, and compassion. As followers of Christ, we are called to stand with those who suffer and are oppressed.
Although our identity as Palestinian Christians is complex, it is important to recognize our unique role in sharing our story, which reflects both our experiences and our hopes. Building solidarity within our local community and extending it to the broader Middle East and the global stage is essential. This means advocating for our cause, seeking recognition, and fostering dialogue with other Christian communities around the world. The pursuit of justice, mercy, and peace goes beyond borders, and it is our shared responsibility to support the Palestinian cause.
Interfaith dialogue and cooperation with Muslims and Jews, is also a key part of our advocacy. Working together to raise the voice for justice and peace in the region strengthens our collective effort to stand up for the oppressed and marginalized.
The resilience and hope of the Palestinian people are deeply rooted in our faith. Our faith gives us the strength to frame our struggles as a journey of hope, not despair. As Christmas approaches, we reflect not only on the religious significance of Christ’s birth, but also on how it serves as a cultural symbol of Palestinian identity. Christmas reminds us that Heaven touched Earth in the birth of Jesus. He came to experience our pain and suffering. It is through this faith that Palestinian Christians draw strength, resilience, and a vision for a just future, marked by love, peace, mercy, and respect for all.
