A Modern Lens on Barren Women in the Bible – Kassandra’s Final Project

Kassandra Almassou Abu Sada, a graduate of both the Master of Arts in Public Theology and the BA in Biblical Studies programs at Bethlehem Bible College, recently completed her master’s thesis titled “A Contemporary Perspective on the Barren Woman in the Bible.” Her research explores the stories of seven barren women in the Bible such as Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Hannah, and Elizabeth, highlighting their pain, faith, and the divine encounters that transformed their circumstances.

What makes Kassandra’s work stand out is her comparison between these biblical accounts and the modern-day experiences of women who face infertility. Through interviews and psychological analysis, she demonstrates how societal and emotional challenges remain deeply relevant today despite medical and theological progress.

By combining biblical theology, contemporary social critique, and real-life testimonies, Kassandra calls on churches and faith communities to embrace a more compassionate and inclusive perspective. Her research affirms the dignity and spiritual journey of women beyond their ability to bear children, offering a message of hope and renewed understanding rooted in scripture.

We are very proud of Kassandra. She has been a dear student of Bethlehem Bible College, actively participating in many of our programs and community events. Over the years, we have seen her grow spiritually, academically, and personally. Her journey reflects the heart of our mission to see students transformed and equipped to serve with wisdom, courage, and compassion.
