Glad News – Chapel Guests

Our Chapel session was blessed this week by visiting Evangelists Samy and Hala Tanagho of Orange County, California. Both are originally from Egypt, and had a rousing testimony of what God has done and is still doing in their lives to reach millions of unsaved in the Middle East. He also reviewed his work in the U.S., and efforts to raise awareness among North Americans of God’s yet unfulfilled promises and love for the peoples of the Middle East.

Samy reviewed God’s promises pertaining to the Middle East and its people, all relevant to our circumstances today, from Genesis through Chronicles, through the major  prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah, and into Acts and the Book of Revelation. It was a real eye-opener to many of us, that God had such clear and distinct love and promises of salvation for this region.

Then came the obvious challenge. Are we being the salt and light that God intended His church and children to be in the present-day darkness in the region? Are we obeying the Great Commission where God has planted us? Are we intimidated by the wars and rumours of wars into abandoning our posts? And are we claiming the promises in the Book that clearly outline victory of God’s purposes?

The all-too-short session ended with Hala singing a hymn of encouragement, and teaching us to sing it with her. Samy also provided copies of his new book “Good News” to BBC’s Library and staff members.

It was an apt denouement to the 2012 Chapel Session, the last for this academic year. It gives us a challenge to ponder as we break up for the summer to pursue other activities.
