Bethlehem Bible College’s “A Pot in His Hand,” a counseling and guidance ministry for women, held its monthly event at the College with the presence of women from the Bethlehem area.

The evening began with some praise music led by Piatrice Bassous, a student at BBC, and with Rev. Dr. Jack Sara, president of the College, playing the piano.

Afterward, Sister Madeline Sara, founder of the ministry, welcomed the attendees and the guest speaker Sister Kathrin Shahwan. Kathrin shared about the year of the Lord’s favor and owning appointments.

“To console those who mourn in Zion – to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. They will be called trees of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

Isaiah 61: 3

Sister Kathrin spoke about receiving the Lord’s promises mentioned in this verse. Accept spiritual beauty instead of ashes, and a lasting oil of joy instead of the mourning and crying caused by the pain of life. The garment of praise replaces despair. She confirmed that the only thing that takes us out of the spirit of heaviness is replacing it with a spirit of praise; praising the Lord, lifting Him up and mentioning His goodness.

She declared these promises over the ladies in attendance. She proclaimed the joy and compensation she received for her brokenness, pain and suffering that she endured throughout her life. Whatever it is, the pain of parting, divorce, or illness, God promises us in His Word, through these verses, there will be compensation for everything.

Despite the disease and pain Kathrin is suffering because of cancer, this wonderful woman chooses to live with joy and peace! She chooses to praise God in the midst of difficult circumstances, and she has chosen to accept the promises of God by declaring this joy over her life.

It is worth mentioning that “A Pot in His Hand” is a counseling and guidance ministry for women, founded by Sister Madeline Sara, a guidance specialist and Christian counselor. The ministry provides a number of activities including awareness and educational sessions, individual counseling sessions, and monthly educational lectures. Next month’s event will be on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.
