The Gideons Come to Bethlehem Bible College
On Tuesday, November 8th, 2011, BBC hosted a presentation by Gideons International. Invitations for attendance had been issued to many local churches in the Bethlehem area, and 30 attendees, representing various denominations, were on hand to hear Pat Corkery, the Gideons’ Regional Field Officer for Eastern Europe and the Middle East make a presentation on the long-time work of this Christian organization in distributing the Word of God across the globe.
Attendees heard moving testimonies about the power of the Bible when it gets into people’s hands, about its continuing ability and power to touch and change lives with its message of the love of Jesus Christ, and ultimately to bring its readers to the place of acceptance of God’s gift of salvation and redemption from sin on an individual basis.
It was a strong reminder that God’s word is alive and powerful especially in today’s world of apathy and intellectual, social, and moral confusion.
