Medical Team in Bethlehem

The BBC-arranged periodic Medical Team visit took place this week in Bethlehem at the Society of Friends of the Sick, a local charity with which BBC works to plan and execute medical team visits to treat patients from the local community.

A US medical team of ten people which included a Dentist, a Family Practice Doctor, a Doctor of physical medicine and rehab, a Physician’s Assistant and non-medical staff (to take initial information, check blood pressure and fill out forms), arrived in Bethlehem this week. In the four days of the clinic’s operation (2 days in Bethlehem, 1 day Beit Sahur and 1 day in an undisclosed location), they treated hundreds of patients over a wide range of ages. This was the team’s second visit to the area this year.

Assisting on the Palestinian side were two local doctors, Dr. Osama Assad and Dr. Samer Andony (cardiology/internal medicine, dentist), as well as lab technician Heba Batma. The clinic’s availability and hours of operation had been advertised in advance on local radio stations.

We thank God for making this team available and for the testimony this gives in our local communities. May God continue to raise servants in this much-needed field.
