Olive Picking

Olive Picking

Last Saturday a group of Bethlehem Bible College students and staff set off early in the morning to help a Palestinian family in the village of Walaja harvest their olives. Some climbed ladders to reach the higher branches and some worked on the lower branches to pick each olive by hand. As the olives fell onto the tarpaulins spread out under the trees, others gathered them to fill buckets, and by noon, the family had several huge bags of olives ready to be pressed for oil. All enjoyed working together to serve the community. Our day ended with a short hike led by a Palestinian environmentalist and a picnic under the oldest olive tree in the world.
