Screening of Three Films by New Vision Media Center

Staff from the College’s New Vision Media Center enriched student chapel on Thursday, the 11th of September, with the presentation of three films from their productions which were part of a series of presentations that were previously shared to a wider audience at local and governmental organizations, schools and universities.  The chapel was attended by administration, faculty, staff and student body members of the college.

The first documentary film, “A Bird in the Cage,” tackled the suffering of child prisoners while putting viewers in an atmosphere of psychological alienation which is faced by the liberatedchild.

The second documentary film titled “I am a Human” presented the harsh and bitter reality faced by people with disabilities and their lack of the most basic human rights, in addition to the suffering sustained by their families, especially their mothers, who were often prey to oppression, misery and fear for the future of their children.

The third film is a television drama whose screenplay and dialogue was written by actor Khaled Al-Massou.  In this drama, students from the media department participated in the production and performance, according to the orientations of the department towards qualifying students to engage in the labor market.

Professor Gabriel Hanna, Director of the Media Department, thanked the director Ala Khoury for his continuous efforts in the production of films that promote democratic values in the society through access to all segments, especially the marginalized, in order to raise the level of awareness of their rights.

Professor Hanna also thanked the staff members, namely program supervisor, Ms. Siham Khoury, Prof. Ashraf Al-Kazaha, Prof. Nidal Al-Atrash and social worker, Riham Abu Abbarah, for their continuous efforts in research, coordination, photography and editing.

In turn, Ms. Siham Khoury affirmed the importance of the production and broadcast of these kinds of movies which seek to shape and form public opinion to support pro-human rights issues, in order to create a positive change in the community.

It is worth mentioning that the New Media Vision Center founded in 2005 is an integral part of the faculty of Bethlehem Bible College and is broadcasting a series of talk shows on Maan TV Station, as well as producing documentary movies relevant to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
